Nicky Hayden 1981-2017

Nicky Hayden passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, at the age of 35, following a May 17 bicycle accident in Italy.

America’s first MotoGP champion of the new era in 2006

His traditional racing number, 69, was the same number his father used, as his father jokes that the number was selected because it could still be read when he frequently ended up upside down in the dirt.

Godspeed Nicky

Thinkers’ Quote

What it is like to ride a motorcycle?

Robert M. Pirsig the author of “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” said it best:
“You see things vacationing on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other. .... On a cycle the frame is gone. You’re completely in contact with it all. You’re in the scene, not watching it anymore, and the sense or presence is overwhelming. The concrete whizzing by five inches below your foot is the real thing, the same stuff you walk on, it’s right there, so blurred you can’t focus on it, yet you can put your foot down and touch it anytime, and the whole thing, the whole experience, is never removed from immediate consciousness.”
