Officers

Karen Butterfield
President

I always wanted to ride as a kid.  I started riding in the dirt and then I discovered riding on the street for a day or days at time and all the people I would meet was as much fun as I thought it would be.  Our sport is even more fun when we create opportunities for shared experiences with similar folks that includes telling the stories of past or planned adventures.

“You don’t need a therapist if you own a motorcycle, any kind of motorcycle!”

Ron Farkas
Vice President

Long time motorcyclist and gearhead: Dirt tracking, desert racing, road racing and touring experience, Member of the IBA and AHRMA, Charter Life Member of the AMA.  Enjoy the camaraderie that a club like this promotes and encourages.

“Keep a High Visual Horizon, Ride Smart, Ride Safe!”

Steve Glennie
Secretary

Steve is a new rider and member to the Red Hot Riders, having only been on a motorcycle for a few years. He has a background in software and finance. He enjoys the “experience” of being out there in nature while traversing the back roads of San Diego county. His favorite bike is the one he currently owns and rides, but as all motorcyclists know he already has his eye on his “next” one. Steve profession has allowed him to live in many places in the United States, but his new found passion of riding and the great varied scenery and geography has quickly made San Diego one of his favorite places to live and ride.

“Plan, Focus, Execute!…Riding a motorcycle requires all three disciplines to happen a little faster than the speed you will shortly be traveling!”

Christine Rochefort
Social Media Specialist

I have ridden all over California many time.  I make the events special and I don’t miss a photo op.  Smiles all around and everyone enjoys the photos.

“Love the twisties.”

Scott Simerson
Treasurer

Mechanically inclined tinkerer, technology and two-wheel enthusiast.  Husband, Retired Sailor, AMA Member, Motorcycle Safety Instructor, Occupational Safety Specialist. I enjoy being around positive people, who are usually found on two (or three) wheels, and do not discriminate between wheel sizes or horsepower.

“Eyes up! Scary Corner Solution:  Look and Push!!”

Bruce Neapole
Member at Large

Riding opens a world of freedom and possibility for me. Always curious, a mechanical tinkerer, started riding through four seasons in the East… on a Suzuki single, then bigger two strokes, a Norton Commando–break for a corporate career, then back in with a BMWr1100rs now ride a K12GT. Best club you’ll find- all brands and riders welcomed, great bench racing chat, monthly rides and amazing speakers.

“Four wheels moves the body, two wheels moves the soul”

Thinkers’ Quote

What it is like to ride a motorcycle?

Robert M. Pirsig the author of “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” said it best:
“You see things vacationing on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other. .... On a cycle the frame is gone. You’re completely in contact with it all. You’re in the scene, not watching it anymore, and the sense or presence is overwhelming. The concrete whizzing by five inches below your foot is the real thing, the same stuff you walk on, it’s right there, so blurred you can’t focus on it, yet you can put your foot down and touch it anytime, and the whole thing, the whole experience, is never removed from immediate consciousness.”
